Dream Downtown

Written by , Posted in Travel

I recently flew to New York City to attend an event for one of my favorite groups, M2M (Marketers to Marketers.) Every six to eight weeks, I am fortunate enough to be able to reconnect with these incredible ladies and discuss all things marketing and work/life related.

When I arrived in NYC, I immediately headed to the event destination, the Dream Downtown. I spent some time posted up working at the poolside restaurant area called “The Beach.” I couldn’t help but to be pleasantly distracted by the upbeat scene at the pool.  There is some great people-watching at this trendy spot in the City.  I ordered a kale salad for lunch, and it was incredible! With all of the hustle and bustle that surrounded me, it was evident that I was not in Austin (or Tampa anymore). After wrapping up all of my emails for the day, I decided to pass some time by doing a little shopping in the Meatpacking District (which might I mention, is home to some of my all time favorite stores.)

When it was time for the M2M social to begin, I headed back to The Dream Downtown. It began poolside where we were immediately greeted by Sharnice Willis from special events who so generously offered to take us on a private tour of the hotel. To say that this place has a total WOW factor is a complete understatement.  Not only is this remarkable establishment a hotel, it also boasts an amazing poolside atmosphere and trendy spots to dine. The Dream Downtown hosts some serious A-List celebrities as well as many top-notch business professionals. Join me as I take you through a quick tour of what The Dream Downtown has to offer. Next time you visit NYC, be sure to check it out. You will not be disappointed.

PH-D. An exclusive rooftop lounge with one-of-a-kind panoramic views of the gorgeous city skyline and an unmatchable outdoor terrace experience. I could not help but to be blown away by the view and over-the-top ambiance of this spot. This will definitely be my first stop for happy hour the next time I am in the City.

The Gallery. A spacious ballroom located on the ground floor of the hotel, offering a fully finished blank canvas which can easily be transformed in order to meet your specific event needs.  My favorite feature of this room is the American flag replica created entirely of beer cans.  If you know me, you know I absolutely love incorporating the American flag into my decor. The Dream Downtown scores bonus points with its urban and eclectic twist on a patriotic theme.

Bodega Negra. Restaurant featuring a menu of upscale Mexican cuisine and cutting-edge cocktails. Here guests dine within an intimate ‘hacienda’ setting complete with unique decor in rich, dark tones. Don’t forget to slap on your free faux “mustache” and partake in the bottomless margaritas that they serve.

Electric Room. This hidden gem is an underground lounge boasting a cool Britannia feel. It is accented with comfortable sofas, antique mirrors and eye-catching photography. This space is an “invite only” club, opening its doors for mostly A-listers and celebrities.  You have to “know someone” to get in. And name-dropping Sharnice will not help. Trust me, I asked!

The Beach. A 50-foot, glass-bottom pool and real sand beach (the only one in Manhattan) are definitely my favorite parts of this hotel. Here you can sit back and cool down even on the most sultry summer days. I strongly encourage you to spend a day poolside if you can. From the delicious menu, to the amazing people-watching and the one-of-a-kind ambiance, The Beach truly delivers an indulgent beach club vibe.

Be sure to check out the Dream Downtown the next time you are in the City.  Also, stay tuned because on Thursday guest blogger, Erin Geoghegan (the founder of M2M) will be discussing the importance of networking.
